Elite Martial Arts Academy, previously known as Lewis' Tae Kwon Do Center, was founded in 1995 by Russ Lewis.  Master Lewis is a fifth degree black belt with over 20 years of competitive and training experience.  Today the academy is operated by Master Russ Lewis and his wife, 3rd Degree Black Belt, Jennifer Lewis.  Their passion for improving students physical fitness, mental discipline, and self-confidence is apparent in every class that is taught.  Master Lewis has been a positive influence in the lives of many.  Their ability to reach children and adults alike has earned Elite Martial Arts a reputation as the areas best martial arts studio.



Russ Lewis

Master Lewis has been teaching Tae Kwon Do since 1991 and opened his own school in 1995.  He is a native of Carteret County and attended college at East Carolina University.  During the mid-90's he trained at the Olympic Training Center.  He was on the National Tae Kwon Do Team eight times, won several national titles and two World Championships.  These days Master Lewis is stepping back from competition to focus on running Elite Martial Arts Academy.  It has been his life-long dream to successfully own a full-time Tae Kwon Do school that provides quality martial arts to the community from which he grew up in.

• 11 Time National Champion (Forms)
• Fifth Degree Black Belt in WTF Tae Kwon Do 
• Third Degree Black Belt in Songahm Tae Kwon Do 
• Second Degree Black Belt in Han Moo Kwan
• 1994 Songahm Tae Kwon Do Instructor Trainee of the year
• 1995 Instructor Certification

Jennifer Lewis 

Mrs. Lewis is a native of New Bern, NC.  While in high school, she actively participated in wrestling and gymnastics.  After High School, she joined the Army National Guard.  While in the military she trained in both Army Self-Defense and in TaeKwonDo. She met Mr. Lewis while attending college and they started training together.  After dating for 5 years, they got married in April 2005.  In late March 2007 they had a son, Luke Lewis.  Mrs. Lewis also cross-trains in Judo and is looking forward to testing for 4th Degree in the near future.
